How it works

  • Pokémon are imported from Diamond or Pearl through the wireless connection between the Wii and the Nintendo DS.
  • They can only be sent back to the DS save file they came from.
  • The ranch starts small: each time a limit is reached, it levels up, expands and receives gifts.
  • You can organize a parade with the Pokémon of a Mii or of Hayley, get the Pokémon’s attention with an item and take photos of them.
  • Miis of friends or from the Check Mii Out Channel contest sometimes come to invite the player to visit their ranch.

The Platinum update

In Japan, an update released on November 5, 2008 adds compatibility with Pokémon Platinum, the Formes of Shaymin, Giratina and Rotom, new music, mini-battles between rival Pokémon and a capacity of 1,500 Pokémon. In October 2009, Nintendo of America stated that no update was planned outside Japan.
