The Mystery Dungeon series has always relied on players helping each other. Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness offer rescue, item trading, Wonder Mail and team trading. Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection shut down in 2014, but passwords and local connection still work. This page explains each feature and gives the passwords for the Secret Slab and the Mystery Part.

Rescue

When the leader or the partner faints in a dungeon, you can ask for help rather than give up your money and items. A successful rescue mission revives the rescued team where it fell, and earns the rescuer Explorer Points.

  • Local wireless connection: to rescue a nearby friend and send them a Pokémon or an item as backup. A backup cannot join a team that is already full.
  • Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection: used to let you rescue a registered friend or a player from around the world. This service shut down on May 20, 2014.
  • Passwords: long codes that describe the rescue request, then the confirmation. They work offline and remain the only remote method today.

The other features

  • Item trading takes place between nearby friends, over a local connection.
  • Wonder Mail lets you send or receive missions that have not been accepted. A received mission keeps the Pokémon of the original cartridge: this is how to get the other version’s exclusives. See Differences between Time and Darkness.
  • Special missions, received by password, give access to exclusive items and some legendaries.
  • Team trading, at the Marowak Dojo, lets you battle another player’s team.

The Secret Slab and the Mystery Part

These two items make many legendaries appear when the hero carries them, such as Zapdos, Raikou, Lugia or Darkrai. They are obtained through special password missions. Here are the passwords compiled by Poképédia, to be entered in the Wonder Mail menu.
