In Pokémon Duel, figurines grow stronger and can be customized. Here are the mechanics, based on Serebii.

Carmonte Island.

Levels

Every game, even a lost one, earns experience. At each level, a point lets you enlarge or shrink an attack on the wheel, for example to shrink the Miss space or widen the strongest attack. A figurine can reach level 5, which means four points. You can also merge figurines, in exchange for coins: the main figurine gains the experience of all the others, which disappear.

Carmonite and chain level

  • Carmonite, added with version 4, raises a level 5 figurine up to level 10.
  • Chain level, since version 1.2.1: merging a figurine with another of the same species increases the power of one attack by one point. It takes 1 duplicate for an EX figurine, 3 for an R, 9 for a UC and 30 for a C.

Evolution

Since version 2, an evolved figurine attaches to its pre-evolution in the deck. When the latter knocks out a Pokémon, it can evolve: it takes on the evolution’s characteristics, with 10 more damage and one more star on each attack. Some Pokémon evolve several times.

Mega Evolution and Z-Moves

Version 5 adds Mega Evolution: a special plate makes a Pokémon Mega Evolve for seven turns, once per game, with an effect on the whole team. Version 7 adds Z-Moves: a gauge fills up as you land hits, and once full, it triggers a Z-Move depending on the Pokémon’s type. A white Z-Move deals double the figurine’s strongest attack.

Energy

In solo mode, each stage costs energy, which recharges by one point every two minutes. Online matches required tickets, which were removed with version 2.
