Pokémon Rumble U is easy to pick up right away, but a few tips will help you progress faster and complete the challenges in each stage.
Choosing your first toy
You start with Pikachu or one of the three Unova starters: Snivy, Tepig or Oshawott. The choice hardly matters: you will soon find more powerful toys.
Battle basics
- Each toy has two attacks. Use the one best suited to the enemy’s type.
- Defeated Pokémon sometimes drop their toy: pick it up.
- Swap toys between battles, depending on the Pokémon in the stage.
Completing challenges
Each stage offers challenges, shown before the battle. Completing them earns you red, yellow and then blue Poké Balls, and completing all of a stage’s challenges unlocks a rare Pokémon. Replay stages with suitable Pokémon to finish everything. See Locations and stages.
Upgrading your toys
The coins you earn are used to upgrade your toys: boosting their strength or changing their attacks. Focus your coins on a few strong toys rather than spreading them thin.
Playing with others
Up to four players can play together, cooperatively or against each other. With friends, the tough stages become much more manageable.
