Pokémon Puzzle League is built on simple rules, yet it has real depth. Here are the basics, followed by techniques for winning duels.
The rules
- Colored blocks rise from the bottom of the screen. If the stack reaches the top, the game is lost.
- The cursor covers two neighboring blocks: you swap them horizontally.
- Three or more blocks of the same color lined up, horizontally or vertically, disappear.
- The blocks above then fall, which can set off new matches.
- You can speed up the rise of the stack to save time.
Combos and chains
- A combo: more than three blocks disappear at once, for example four or five.
- A chain: one clear makes blocks fall that form a new match, and so on.
- In duels, combos and chains send garbage blocks to your opponent. These blocks turn into normal blocks when a match touches them.
Tips
- Don’t let the stack climb too high: keep some room to react to garbage blocks.
- While a chain is playing out, you can keep playing elsewhere in the stack: this is the key to long chains.
- The Training Lab explains all these techniques step by step.
