Pokémon Rumble Blast is more than the main adventure. The game offers several types of battles, a co-op mode, StreetPass features and, after the story, a World Rank and a no-reserve challenge. Here is each mode.

Battle modes

Normal mode

You work through levels by defeating the Pokémon you meet, pick up coins and toys, and face a boss at the end. You can play alone or with two players in local co-op; with two players, your chances of finding toys go up.

Battle Royale

In an arena, with up to three Pokémon, you have to defeat dozens of enemies within the time limit, then several powerful Pokémon at the end. Winning earns you coins.

Team Battle

New in this installment: you control three Pokémon at once. They can stack into a tower to combine their HP and strengthen their attacks. You face waves of enemies until the boss.

Charge Battle

Another new feature: you lead an army of toy Pokémon against other armies, chaining combinations to overwhelm your opponent.

StreetPass and unlocked Pokémon

When you cross paths with other players, you receive their Mii, who challenges you with a Pokémon: defeating it lets you win it. The number of people you meet also unlocks rare Pokémon in certain regions. Without StreetPass, you can trade 3DS Play Coins.

World Rank

After the story, a service on the upper floors of the final dungeon lets you raise the World Rank. All the Pokémon in the world then rise to a comparable power level, which makes every species useful in the final battles.

The no-reserve challenge

After the story, a Rattata introduces a new challenge, called “Battle Locale” in the English version: cross a randomly chosen region without any of your reserve toys, starting with a weak Rattata and recruiting the Pokémon you find along the way. Each victory earns 10,000 to 40,000 P depending on the current streak.
