The wait is nearly over for Trainers on the go. After its much-noticed launch on Nintendo Switch last April, Pokémon Champions is about to conquer our smartphones. The Pokémon Company has confirmed that the title will be available on app stores on June 17, 2026.

Here is everything you need to know about this new entry built for competition.

What is Pokémon Champions?

Unlike the series’ mainline games, Pokémon Champions sets aside exploration and storytelling to focus exclusively on the heart of the experience: strategic battling.

The game is presented as a global arena where players face off in turn-based duels. You’ll find the familiar mechanics (types, moves, Abilities), but with an interface optimized for fast play.

  • Recruitment: You build your team by recruiting Pokémon with the Victory Points (VP) you accumulate.
  • Connectivity: The game is compatible with Pokémon HOME, letting you transfer your own Pokémon from other games (such as Pokémon Legends: Z-A or Pokémon GO) to battle in the arena.
  • Game modes: Ranked Battles, Casual matches and online tournaments.

Availability and system requirements

The game will be free to download (free-to-start) on both major platforms starting June 17:

  • iOS (iPhone & iPad): Requires iOS 16 or later.
  • Android: Available on most recent devices via the Google Play Store.

Thanks to cross-play features, mobile players will be able to face Nintendo Switch players without distinction, ensuring smooth and fast matchmaking.

Game economy and in-app purchases

To support its regular updates and competitive seasons, Pokémon Champions offers several in-app purchase options to customize the experience:

Premium Battle Pass€9.99Unlocks exclusive rewards (skins, items) during the season.
Subscription (1 month)€4.99Daily perks and progression bonuses.
