📜Origins and Trivia

🔤
Name origin: Snorlax combines “snore” and “relax”. Its Japanese name, Kabigon, refers to a nickname of Kōji Nishino, a developer at Game Freak. In French, it is called Ronflex, from “ronflement” (snoring) and “flexible”.
😴
A big sleeper: It weighs 460 kg (1,014 lbs), spends its days sleeping and wakes up only to eat. It recalls a hibernating bear, or the drowsiness that follows an overly big meal.
💡
Did you know?: In Pokémon Red and Blue, two sleeping Snorlax block the road: you need the Poké Flute to wake them. Its Gigantamax form, in Sword and Shield, carries a small tree-covered hill on its belly.
