Ronald

Ronald also wants to become a Card Master and challenges you at every encounter. Losing to him is a sign that your deck needs improving; beating him earns you a promotional card. Like the rival in Red and Blue, he is waiting for you at the very end of the road.

The other characters

  • Dr. Mason, the researcher who introduces you to the game and sends you fifteen emails over the course of the adventure.
  • Sam, his assistant, who teaches you the basics.
  • Mr. Ishihara, the card collector.
  • Imakuni, who gives you his own card every three victories against him.

The Zapdos Lv.68 bug

The Zapdos Lv.68 card deals 30 damage to a random Pokémon when it enters play. If this power Knocks Out the opponent’s last Pokémon and you reset the console at the “Decision” screen, the game resumes in an impossible state and freezes. Best avoided.
