Pokémon Trading Card Game brings together the first three TCG expansions, a few promotional cards and cards exclusive to the video game that were never printed. Here is what the collection contains, how to complete it, and the cards you shouldn’t miss.

The Meowth promo card that came with the game.

The expansions

The game contains all the cards from the Base Set, Jungle and Fossil expansions, with two exceptions: Electrode (Base Set 21) and Ditto (Fossil 3). The non-holographic versions of the holographic cards from Jungle and Fossil are not included. In total, 228 cards are recorded, spread across five series internal to the game: Colosseum, Evolution, Mystery, Laboratory and Promotional.

The exclusive cards

Some cards were created for the game and were never printed in paper form, in any language. Many use Ken Sugimori’s official illustrations for Pokémon Red and Blue.

Card Pop!

On Game Boy Color, the Card Pop! feature let two players trade a random card via infrared. It was the only way to get Mew Lv.15 and Venusaur Lv.64. The 3DS Virtual Console re-release does not offer Card Pop!, so these two cards cannot be obtained there.
