Eggs in Pokémon GO: Distances, Incubators and Hatching

Eggs are one of the best sources of rare Pokémon in Pokémon GO, and they reward what the game loves most: walking. You just need to know which ones to incubate first and how not to waste your kilometers.

The different Eggs

• 2, 5 and 10 km: obtained by spinning PokéStops. The longer the distance, the rarer the Pokémon.
• 5 and 10 km Adventure Sync: given as a reward for your weekly kilometers, with their own selection of Pokémon.
• 7 km: found in Gifts from your friends. They often contain regional forms (Alolan, Galarian…).
• 12 km: Strange Eggs, won by defeating Team GO Rocket Leaders. They hold Dark- or Poison-type Pokémon that are often rare.

You can store up to 9 Eggs. What each category can contain changes with the seasons and events: take a look at our calendar before heading out for a walk.

Incubators

• The unlimited incubator (orange) never wears out: you have one from the start.
• Limited incubators (blue) can be used three times.
• Super Incubators (purple) can be used three times and hatch Eggs faster, as the distance to walk is reduced.

Walking smarter

• Turn on Adventure Sync: your steps count even with the app closed.
• The game doesn’t count distance beyond a brisk walking speed: don’t hope to hatch your Eggs by car.
• During some events, the hatching distance is halved: that’s the time to fill all your incubators.

A perfect Pokémon at hatching?

Hatched Pokémon are level 20 and always have good IVs (at least 10 out of 15 in each stat). To recognize a 100% at hatching, compare its CP to the level 20 “perfect CP,” listed on each entry in our Pokémon GO Pokédex.
