At Paniola Ranch, on Akala Island, the Pokémon Nursery takes in your Pokémon two at a time. If they get along well, an Egg appears. It is the foundation of breeding, and of the quest for perfect Pokémon.

🥚How it works

  • Drop off two Pokémon at the Nursery, at the front desk: a male and a female from the same Egg Group, or any Pokémon with a Ditto.
  • Come back later: when an Egg is ready, the Breeder lets you know. Each Egg needs a certain number of steps to hatch.
  • The baby is of the mother’s species (or of the parent that is not a Ditto), at its lowest evolution stage.
  • The Nursery gives you a first Egg on your first visit to the Ranch.

🧬What gets passed down

  • Egg Moves, which the baby could not learn otherwise, are passed down by either parent.
  • The Hidden Ability is most often passed down by the mother, or by the parent that is not a Ditto.
  • The Destiny Knot, held by a parent, passes down five of its IVs instead of three.
  • The Everstone, held by a parent, passes down its Nature. It is also used to pass down a Pokémon’s form, Alolan or regular.
  • The mother’s Poké Ball is passed down, which lets you breed Pokémon in a rare ball.

⏩Hatching faster

  • A Pokémon with the Flame Body or Magma Armor Ability in your party halves the number of steps needed. Magby, in Wela Volcano Park, is available early.
  • Tauros Charge covers long distances quickly: go back and forth along a clear route.
  • The Poké Pelago’s Hot Springs Isle hatches the Eggs stored in the PC.
  • The Oval Charm, handed out by a GAME FREAK employee at their offices in Heahea City, increases how often Eggs appear.
