📜Origins and Trivia

Name origin: Venusaur refers to the Venus flytrap, plus “dinosaur”, just like Bulbasaur. In Japanese, Fushigibana means “strange flower”. In French, it is called Florizarre, from “flore” (flora) and “bizarre”.
🎨
Inspiration: According to Ken Sugimori, its family is inspired by the frog. The big flower on its back recalls the rafflesia, the largest flower in the world, and its soothing scent, stronger after a rainy day, attracts Pokémon.
💡
Did you know?: It is on the cover of Pokémon Green in Japan and of Pokémon LeafGreen. It received a Mega Evolution in X and Y and a Gigantamax form in Sword and Shield.
