A Japanese series
Koei Tecmo’s Nobunaga no Yabō series, historical strategy games set in the Sengoku period, had never left Japan, even though games from the same universe, such as Samurai Warriors, did reach France. Pokémon Conquest is therefore the first entry to be released worldwide. In Japan, it took the top of the sales charts right at launch, with more than 170,000 copies in its first week.
The kingdoms
Ransei has 17 kingdoms, each associated with a type: Aurora (Normal), Ignis (Fire), Greenleaf (Grass), Fontaine (Water), Violight (Electric), Chrysalia (Bug), Pugilis (Fighting), Illusio (Psychic), Terrera (Ground), Cragspur (Rock), Viperia (Poison), Yaksha (Dark), Avia (Flying), Valora (Steel), Spectra (Ghost), Nixtorm (Ice) and Dragnor (Dragon).
