The Mystery Dungeon games on WiiWare feature several legendary Pokémon, either fought as bosses or distributed online, and something new for the series: shiny Pokémon to recruit. Here is how you got them.

The legendaries

Legendaries fought as bosses join the team automatically once defeated, if certain conditions are met: a rank to reach, a dungeon to complete or other Pokémon to recruit.

One legendary beast per version

Once the story is completed, a legendary beast appears near the village well. Just talk to it to recruit it.

The WiiConnect24 distributions

Every month, a message in the Wii Message Board announced that a legendary would appear in certain dungeons, and Farfetch’d repeated it in the village. Mew, Jirachi, Palkia and Darkrai were distributed this way.

Wonder Mail W

Dialga, Giratina and Arceus could only be recruited by accepting three missions from the Wonder Mail W menu, which required an Internet connection. Each one involved facing the legendary on a specific floor of a dungeon.

The Secret Slab and the Mystery Part

Other legendaries appear at random in certain dungeons if the player is carrying a Secret Slab or a Mystery Part and has the highest rank, the Slowking Certification.

Shiny Pokémon

Thirty-six species can appear in shiny form. Their special feature: a belly of 200 points instead of 100, which lets them go twice as long without eating. They include Caterpie, Magikarp, Mareep, Wooper, Zigzagoon, Roselia, Budew and Roserade.
