Each of the three Mystery Dungeon games on WiiWare has its own theme: Blazing, Stormy and Shining. This results in different starter Pokémon, villages and dungeons. The story, meanwhile, stays similar from one game to the next. Here is what changes.

The starter Pokémon

Each game offers nine starter Pokémon. The player picks two for the first mission; the others then stay on the team for later explorations.

The Blazing Adventure Squad

Charmander, Vulpix, Growlithe, Eevee, Cyndaquil, Teddiursa, Torchic, Chimchar and Buneary.

The Stormy Adventure Squad

Squirtle, Totodile, Wooper, Phanpy, Mudkip, Azurill, Wynaut, Piplup and Riolu.

The Shining Adventure Squad

Pikachu, Meowth, Psyduck, Pichu, Togepi, Mareep, Elekid, Shinx and Pachirisu.

The villages

The adventure takes place in Pokémon Village in the Blazing game, Pokémon Beach in the Stormy one and Pokémon Garden in the Shining one. The same services are found everywhere: the Kangaskhan Storage, the Kecleon Shop, the Duskull Bank, the move tutor Slaking and the Gastrodon Shop, which opens chests for 100 Poké. The well is used to save, and Slowking lets you organize your team and practice the Pokémon Tower.

The dungeons

Each game has fifteen dungeons, whose names follow the theme of the version. The names below are translations of the Japanese titles.

Several games, one save

According to our article from the time, a player who owns several of the three games can carry their save from one to another, and so bring together different Pokémon.
