On July 1st, 2000, at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles exhibition centre, trainers left a Pokémon tournament with a treasure in their Game Boy: an official Mew with the trainer name “FRANCE”. It was the very first distribution of a Mythical Pokémon in France. Twenty-six years later, the list stands at 23 Mythical Pokémon and dozens of operations: trade shows, video game stores, Wi-Fi, single-use codes, passwords, Pokémon HOME gifts… right up to the Celebi offered since October 7, 2026 to players of FireRed and LeafGreen on Switch.

Working out who was given away, when and how is far from simple, though. Announcements from the time have often vanished, dates vary from one source to the next, and many players no longer know whether their favourite Mythical is still obtainable today or whether you “had to be there”. Victini, Zarude, Darkrai, Arceus: the question comes up again and again.

For the first time in French, this feature brings together the whole history of Mythical Pokémon distributions available in France, from the Game Boy to the Switch. In store: detailed tables era by era (dates, places, method, level, Original Trainer name), the anecdotes that left their mark on fans, the items Europe never received, an exclusive infographic summing up 26 years of distributions, the big table of what you can still obtain in 2026, and our tips for checking that an event Mythical is genuine.
