📜Origins and Trivia

🔤
Name origin: Eevee’s name, like its Japanese one (Eievui), echoes the pronunciation of the letters E and V, the first two of the word “evolution”. In French, it is called Évoli, from “évolution”.
🎨
Design: Motofumi Fujiwara drew it at the request of Satoshi Tajiri, who wanted a Pokémon able to evolve into several types. He designed it as a blank page: somewhere between a fox, a dog and a cat, Eevee copies no specific animal. Fujiwara also drew Jolteon and Flareon.
🌿
A record: With eight possible evolutions (Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon and Sylveon), Eevee has more evolutions than any other Pokémon. They are nicknamed the Eeveelutions.
💡
Did you know?: Since 2019, Eevee has been a tourism ambassador for the city of Ibusuki, Japan, thanks to a pun: “Eievui suki” (“Eevee fan”) sounds almost like the name of the city.
