📜Origins and Trivia

🔤
Name origin: Psyduck combines “psychic” and “duck”. In Japanese, Koduck means “little duck”. In French, it is called Psykokwak, from “psycho” and “couac”, one of the sounds a duck makes.
🤕
Its headaches: It suffers from constant headaches that sometimes trigger powerful psychic powers… even though it is not a Psychic type, but a Water type.
📺
In the anime: Misty accidentally ends up with a Psyduck that pops out of its Poké Ball at the worst moment: one of the best-known gags of the anime.
🎨
Inspiration: Its rubber duck look and the few hairs on its head also recall the platypus. Like Golduck, it may be inspired by the kappa, a river creature from Japanese folklore.
