Origem do nome: Raichu vem do japonês rai, “trovão”, e de chū, o guincho de um rato. Seu nome é o mesmo em todos os idiomas.
Design: Atsuko Nishida o desenhou, como Pikachu e Alolan Raichu. Suas patas e sua cauda longa lembram uma jerboa ou um rato-canguru.
Alolan Raichu: Sua forma de Alola, dos tipos Electric e Psychic, apresentada em Sun e Moon, se desloca surfando na própria cauda: uma homenagem ao surfe, nascido no Havaí, o arquipélago que inspirou Alola.
