Beating Lance is only half the journey. HeartGold and SoulSilver offer a huge post-League adventure: the entire Kanto region, rematches through the Pokégear, the Battle Frontier, the Safari Zone and Red at the summit of Mt. Silver. Here is what is left to do, in a logical order.
1. Kanto and its eight Badges
The S.S. Aqua takes you to Kanto, where eight new Gyms await, from Lt. Surge to Blue. The details are on our Kanto and Red page.
2. The Battle Frontier
Brought over from Pokémon Platinum, the Battle Frontier replaces the Battle Tower from Crystal. You reach it through the Frontier Access, north of Sea Route 40, west of Olivine City. It has five facilities, which earn Battle Points (BP):
| Facility | How it works |
|---|---|
| Battle Tower | Seven opponents in a row, at Level 50 or at any level |
| Battle Factory | Seven opponents using rental Pokémon |
| Battle Arcade | Level 50 battles with no held items, with a roulette that hands out advantages and handicaps |
| Battle Castle | No healing between battles: you have to manage Castle Points to heal your team |
| Battle Hall | A single Pokémon against opponents chosen by type, growing ever stronger |
On the central square, three stands exchange BP for training items, TMs or scratch cards. Several legendaries are banned from the Frontier grounds.
3. The legendaries
The legendary of the other version at Level 70, the Kanto birds, Mewtwo, Latios or Latias, Suicune and the Hoenn trio at the Embedded Tower: everything is on our Legendaries page.
4. Rematches through the Pokégear
The Gym Leaders of both regions give you their phone number if you meet them at certain places on certain days. You can then call them to arrange a rematch at the Saffron Dojo, against teams at Levels 50 to 60. The Elite Four and Lance can also be fought again, with stronger teams once you have all sixteen Badges. See The Pokégear.
5. The Safari Zone and the Pokéathlon
The Safari Zone, west of Cianwood City, lets you catch Hoenn and Sinnoh Pokémon using blocks; the Pokéathlon rewards the most athletic Pokémon.
6. Red
With sixteen Badges, Professor Oak allows you to climb Mt. Silver. Red awaits you at the summit, with a team from Level 80 to Level 88. Beating him earns every Pokémon a Legend Ribbon, and then Professor Oak gives you a Kanto starter Pokémon.
7. Completing the Pokédex
The National Pokédex is obtained after the League. To complete it, combine the Safari Zone, the Pokéwalker, trades, catching swarms (Pokémon swarms) and static Pokémon (Pokémon at fixed locations).
