Pokémon Picross is quick to play, but its resources are scarce. These tips will help you solve puzzles more efficiently and make your Picrites last.
The rules of Picross
- The numbers at the end of a row show the runs of black squares, in order. “3 2 1” means a run of 3, then 2, then 1, separated by at least one white square.
- Mark with a cross the squares you know are white: this is essential on large grids.
- The stylus is more practical than the buttons.
The tutorial techniques
Professor Tetra teaches four techniques in area 0:
- Filling in the edges: start with the borders, where the clues are most restrictive.
- Short runs: a sequence like “3 1 3” on a 9-square row leaves only one solution.
- Big numbers: a 7 on a row of 10 guarantees that the four central squares are black.
- Always mark the impossible squares.
The tutorial earns you 30 Picrites per item puzzle, and Tetra then entrusts you with a Squirtle and an Eevee.
Saving your Picrites
- Do the daily training every day: it is the best source of Picrites. See Picrites and the P Gauge.
- Complete the objectives of each puzzle, even if you have to replay it: they earn up to 5 Picrites.
- Collect your medals in the dedicated menu.
- Avoid healing tired Pokémon: wait for them to rest.
- Expanding the P Gauge is a good medium-term investment.
Making good use of abilities
Choose your Pokémon according to the puzzle and its objectives: a correction ability for difficult puzzles, a time ability for timed objectives, and the type required by the objective. See Abilities.
