The Challenge Cup is the new feature of the Stadium in Pokémon Stadium 2. Neither your Game Boy Pokémon nor rental Pokémon are allowed: the game gives you six randomly chosen Pokémon, with their moves, and your opponents get random teams too. It is a cup for tacticians, where you have to get the most out of a team you did not choose.
The rules
| Division | Pokémon level |
|---|---|
| Poké Ball | 30 |
| Great Ball | 45 |
| Ultra Ball | 60 |
| Master Ball | 75 |
- No Game Boy or rental Pokémon: six randomly chosen Pokémon.
- No duplicate Pokémon or items; Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause and Self-Destruct Clause apply.
- Eight battles per division, with three Pokémon chosen from your six.
- You are offered a “continue” if you defeat an opponent without losing a Pokémon.
How to win
- Analyze your team before each battle: which types, which moves, which weaknesses.
- Look at the opposing team, shown before the battle, and pick your three Pokémon based on types.
- Favor offensive moves: support moves are less useful with an imposed team.
- Beware of one-hit KO moves, such as Guillotine or Fissure, and of sleep-inducing moves.
