Chapter nine: the return to Hammerlocke, the mission in Double Battles in the Relics Hall, and the battle against Raihan, the Dragon-type Gym Leader and Leon’s rival, for the eighth and final Badge.
The meeting in Hammerlocke
In Hammerlocke, you meet up with Hop, Leon, Sonia and Professor Magnolia, who discuss the Dynamaxed Perrserker, the Darkest Day and Chairman Rose’s activities. Leon encourages you not to let this “red light” spoil your Challenge: it is time for the last Badge.
The mission: three Double Battles
The mission does not take place at the stadium but in the Relics Hall. You battle three Trainers in Double Battles, each specializing in a weather change. Between battles, you can heal your team or leave the mission. So prepare a team built for Double Battles, with moves that hit both opponents.
The battle against Raihan
The battle against Raihan is also a Double Battle. Raihan plays with the weather: his Gigalith can kick up a sandstorm, Body Press changes type depending on the weather, and his Duraludon can Gigantamax.
| Pokémon | Level | Moves |
|---|---|---|
| Gigalith | 46 | Stealth Rock, Sand Tomb, Rock Blast, Body Press |
| Flygon | 47 | Thunder Punch, Breaking Swipe, Crunch, Steel Wing |
| Sandaconda | 46 | Protect, Glare, Fire Fang, Earth Power |
| Duraludon (Gigantamax) | 48 | Breaking Swipe, Body Press, Stone Edge, Iron Head |
Rewards: the Dragon Badge, 7,680 Poké Dollars and TM99 (Breaking Swipe). The Ball Guy gives you a Level Ball.
The party and the handover
You celebrate your victory with Magnolia and Sonia. Sonia explains that the Darkest Day is the origin of the Dynamax phenomenon in Galar; Professor Magnolia then hands her title over to her: Sonia becomes a professor.
With eight Badges, nothing stops you any longer from catching the strongest Pokémon in the Wild Area. It is the perfect time to round out your team before Route 10 and Wyndon.
Next: chapter 10, Wyndon, the Poké Masters and the Darkest Day.
