To encourage Trainers to travel and trade, some Pokémon in Pokémon GO only appear in the wild in certain parts of the world. Good news for French players: one of them is exclusive to… France! Here is the list of the main regional exclusives and tips for completing your Pokédex.

French and European exclusives

In France, two regional Pokémon are within easy reach: Mr. Mime, exclusive to Europe since the game’s early days, and Klefki, the key ring Pokémon from the Kalos region, which is inspired by France and only appears in mainland France. Pansear, the fire monkey, is also limited to Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India.

The list of regional Pokémon

Pokémon whose form depends on the region

  • Vivillon: the pattern on its wings depends on the region of the world where you obtained the Postcards for Scatterbug.
  • Flabébé: the color of its flower varies by continent.
  • Oricorio: each of its four dance styles is tied to a part of the world.
  • Shellos et Gastrodon: West Sea form in the Western Hemisphere, East Sea form in the Eastern Hemisphere.

How to get them without traveling?

  1. Trades: this is the simplest method. A friend who travels or lives elsewhere can trade one to you. Be careful: a Pokémon you do not yet have in your Pokédex results in a “special trade”, which costs more Stardust and is limited to one per day.
  2. Events: during certain events, in particular Pokémon GO Fest, regional Pokémon are offered worldwide for a limited time.
