The black raid crystals are glowing with colossal menace across the Paldea region. Hot on the heels of the Salamence challenge, Game Freak and The Pokémon Company have brought back the fearsome Mighty Metagross in 7-star Tera Raid Battles in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. Running until Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 1:59 a.m. (Paris time), this event is your chance to add one of the most destructive Steel-type Pokémon in history to your collection, complete with the exclusive Mighty Mark.
A fearsome offensive set under the Steel Tera Type
Proudly displaying Level 100 and boasting perfect 31 IVs,
Metagross has the Steel Tera Type, boosting the raw power of its signature move, Meteor Mash. Its base moveset covers a wide range of threats with Zen Headbutt (Psychic), Earthquake (Ground) and Thunder Punch (Electric), making any careless Water- or Flying-type pick a bad idea.

Tactically, this titan of stone and metal unleashes highly crippling scripted status moves: right from the start of the battle (99% of the time remaining), it uses Hone Claws to raise its Attack and accuracy, then Iron Defense at 89% and 79% of the timer to lock its Defense at +6. At 40% of its HP remaining, it also puts up a Light Screen to curb special attackers.
The best counters to win solo or as a team
Facing such an impenetrable physical wall, Trainers should favor Pokémon that can ignore its stat boosts or exploit its Fire and Ground weaknesses while withstanding its physical hits:
Annihilape (Tera Ghost / Fighting): Holding a Covert Cloak or Leftovers and with the Defiant Ability, it soaks up hits to power up Rage Fist to as much as 350 power while healing itself with Drain Punch.
Incineroar (Fire Tera Type): Thanks to its Intimidate Ability, its stat-lowering moves and Flare Blitz, it neutralizes Metagross’s offensive build-up while supporting the team with Taunt to block Iron Defense.
Kingambit (Dark Tera Type): Its dual Steel/Dark typing gives it excellent natural resistances, letting it deal heavy damage with Kowtow Cleave after setting up Swords Dance.
