After Dragonite and then Tyranitar, it is Salamence‘s turn to take over Paldea’s black crystals. Since this Friday, October 9, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet have been hosting a 7-star Tera Raid Battle with a Flying Tera Type Salamence carrying the Mighty Mark. You have one week to catch it.

One week to take on the Mighty Salamence

The announcement appears on the game’s official news site. It confirms the rhythm adopted since the end of September: every week, a fully evolved Pokémon carrying the Mighty Mark returns in a 7-star raid. Salamence takes over from Tyranitar, whose Ghost-type raid ended overnight from Thursday to Friday.

  • Dates: from Friday, October 9, 2026 at 2 a.m. to Friday, October 16, 2026 at 1:59 a.m. (Paris time)
  • Raid: 7-star Tera Raid Battle, in Paldea’s black crystals
  • Pokémon: Flying Tera Type Salamence, with the Mighty Mark
  • Catch: once per save file
  • Access: main menu, then “Poké Portal”, “Mystery Gift” and “Get Poké Portal News”
  • Online play: Nintendo Switch Online membership and Nintendo Account required

As with the previous Mighty Pokémon, the rule remains strict: if you have already caught this Salamence in a previous event raid, in spring 2025 in particular, you will not be able to get a second one. Nothing stops you from facing it as many times as you like to collect the end-of-raid rewards, though. The Pokémon Company also states that this Salamence may return in a future event or be obtained another way.

A Flying-type Salamence: what it changes in beating it

The Tera Type changes how you approach this battle. Normally a Dragon and Flying type, Salamence keeps only the Flying type on defense here. The direct consequence: Ice, which usually dealt quadruple damage to it, now only doubles it, and Dragon moves lose their special effectiveness. Its weaknesses become those of a standard Flying-type Pokémon: Electric, Ice and Rock.

  • Favor an Electric, Ice or Rock attacker, ideally with a Tera Type of the same type to strengthen its attacks
  • Think about defense: a level 100 Pokémon in a 7-star raid hits hard, and a Pokémon that resists Flying moves will last longer
  • Play as a team: in multiplayer, coordinate support and offense rather than sending in four identical attackers

If you have not yet unlocked the black crystal raids, which open after certain endgame events, you can still take part by joining other Trainers in multiplayer.
