It already made plenty of Trainers sweat in spring 2025: the Mighty Ghost Tera Type Tyranitar is back in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. Until Friday, October 9 at 1:59 a.m. (Paris time), this formidable level 100 opponent awaits you in 7-star Tera Raid Battles, with a specimen carrying the Mighty Mark as the prize.

A one-week 7-star raid

Announced by the game’s official news site, the event began on Friday, October 2 and lasts seven days. As in its previous appearances, at the end of March and the start of April 2025, this Tyranitar can only be caught once per save file: if you already added it to your team in a previous edition, you will have to make do with the rewards, since the raid remains available as many times as you like.

  • Dates: from Friday, October 2, 2026 at 2 a.m. to Friday, October 9, 2026 at 1:59 a.m. (Paris time)
  • Raids: 7-star Tera Raid Battles (black crystals), in Paldea only
  • Pokémon: level 100 Tyranitar, Ghost Tera Type, Mighty Mark
  • Access: Poké Portal menu, then “Mystery Gift” and “Get Poké Portal News”
  • Online play: Nintendo Switch Online membership required

Black crystal raids unlock after certain endgame events. If your game hasn’t reached that point yet, all is not lost: you can join other players’ raids in multiplayer.

What awaits you against it

The Armor Pokémon, the final form of Larvitar and Pupitar, takes no prisoners. According to data gathered by the community during its previous appearances, it has the Sand Stream ability and an Adamant nature. Its offense relies on Stone Edge, Crunch, Earthquake and Shadow Claw, backed up by Focus Energy, to raise its critical-hit rate, and Dragon Dance, which boosts its Attack and Speed.

The battle is paced by several scripted actions: Tyranitar uses Focus Energy in the very first seconds, deploys its Terastal shield at 80% HP, cancels stat changes several times and uses Dragon Dance twice. Once Terastallized, it loses its Rock and Dark types in favor of the Ghost type alone: it becomes vulnerable to Ghost and Dark moves, but immune to Normal and Fighting moves. A Dark-type ally therefore has the advantage of resisting both Crunch and Shadow Claw.

  • Exp. Candy L and Exp. Candy XL
  • Protein
  • 40 Ghost Tera Shards
  • TM061 Shadow Claw
  • an Ability Patch

Key takeaways

With less than a week on the clock, this return is aimed above all at those who missed the 2025 editions. The official site also states that this Tyranitar may reappear in an upcoming event or be obtained by other means. Remember to download the Poké Portal News before diving in, and ideally put together a coordinated team to take down this colossus.
