Browt, the Grass starter
A small, round bird with pale yellow down and a black lower body, whose green beak has two leaves pressed against its forehead like thick eyebrows. It runs around in all directions and photosynthesizes while it’s at it. Full of energy, it is also very clumsy. It is the second Grass starter inspired by a bird, after Rowlet.
Pombon, the Fire starter
An orange puppy with fluffy fur, a light yellow muzzle and a glowing tuft, with a tail curled on its back. The glow at its throat comes from an organ in its lungs that produces heat. Confident and friendly by nature, it is the first Fire starter inspired by a dog.
Gecqua, the Water starter
A small blue gecko with a big head and half-closed eyes, which uses its swollen tail to throw bouncing beads of water. Very intelligent, it calculates its movements and readily puts on airs. It follows Sobble, the Galar chameleon, among the Water starters inspired by a lizard.
Classic Abilities
Like every starter since Ruby and Sapphire, the three partners have the Ability of their type: Overgrow, Blaze and Torrent boost the power of Grass-, Fire- or Water-type moves by 50% when the Pokémon has one third of its HP or less left. Their Hidden Abilities, specific to each line, have not been revealed yet.
Among the smallest starters
At 0.3 to 0.4 m, the three Winds and Waves starters are the same size as the smallest of their predecessors. At 3.5 kg, Browt is among the lightest Grass starters, ahead only of Rowlet (1.5 kg). Pombon, at 6.7 kg, is about average for Fire starters.
Detailed comparisons are on each entry, and the full list is in the starters of all ten generations.
Which one should you pick?
