Pokémon Ranger is unlike any other Pokémon game. Here you don’t battle: you capture with the stylus, team up with Pokémon to get past obstacles, then release them. Here is what you need to know to start your adventure in the Fiore region.
The concept
You play as Lunick or Solana, a new Ranger assigned to the Ringtown base under the orders of the Chief Ranger. Your partner, Minun for Lunick or Plusle for Solana, goes everywhere with you. You carry out increasingly important missions that pit you against the Go-Rock Squad.
The three moves to master

Eight tips
- Take your time drawing: steady loops beat fast, messy ones.
- Watch the Pokémon before you start: some charge, others attack from a distance.
- Use your partner: its discharge briefly paralyzes the target Pokémon.
- Keep a varied team: each Field Move opens up a type of obstacle.
- Check the Browser, which shows each Pokémon’s Field Move and Poké Assist.
- Recharge the Capture Styler at Ranger bases before a boss.
- Save often at save machines, or with the Interrupt function.
- Talk to everyone in town: residents often need a Ranger, as in mission 2 in Fall City.
