Once the Pokémon Ranger credits have rolled, the adventure continues. Three special missions given by the Ranger chiefs lead to Kyogre, Groudon and Rayquaza, and the Ranger Net, a hidden title screen menu, offers bonus missions featuring Deoxys, Celebi, Mew and a Manaphy Egg to transfer to Diamond and Pearl. Here is how to get them.
The post-game special missions
| Mission | Given by | Location | Legendary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Investigate the Saffron Sea | The Chief Ranger, in Fall City | Fall City, Saffron Sea | Kyogre (11 loops) |
| Ranger Duo on Summerland | A Ranger, in Summerland | Olive Ruins | Groudon (17 loops) |
| Suspicious Individuals at the Temple | A Ranger, in Wintown | Fiore Temple | Rayquaza |
The missions follow one another in this order, starting with a message from the professor at the Fall City base. At Fiore Temple, you will have to solve a new pedestal puzzle, with Ralts, Kirlia and Gardevoir. Our detailed walkthrough: Special missions: Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza and Deoxys.
The Ranger Net
The Ranger Net unlocks after you finish the game once: on the title screen, press R, X and Left at the same time. The missions on offer depend on your progress. You can replay them as many times as you like, but you can’t save in the middle of a mission.
| Mission | Given by | The challenge |
|---|---|---|
| Win the Deoxys’s Trust | The Chief Ranger, in Ringtown | Capture an aggressive Deoxys through its four successive forms |
| Save Celebi | The Chief Ranger | Defeat three former Go-Rock Squad grunts, then capture Celebi in the Lyra Forest |
| Find Mew, the Mirage Pokémon | The professor, on Summerland | Prove that a Ranger who is called a fabulist really did see Mew, by capturing it |
| Retrieve the Precious Egg | Secret code | Take back from the Go-Rock Squad a Manaphy Egg stolen from the professor |
The Manaphy Egg
The “Retrieve the Precious Egg” mission could only be obtained with a secret code, specific to each version. The French version’s code is DY4g-k28S-QB9F, revealed in June 2007 by GAME stores. Once the mission is complete, the Egg can be transferred to Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold or SoulSilver; it gives a level 1 Manaphy that knows Tail Glow, Bubble and Water Sport.
Tips
- Level up your Capture Styler before the Legendary Pokémon: Groudon requires 17 loops.
- Use the right Poké Assists: a Water Poké Assist against Groudon, Electric or Grass against Kyogre. See Poké Assists.
- The Ranger Net’s Deoxys changes forms: you have to calm it four times in a row.
