Mission 1: Escort the Professor
You arrive in the Lyra Forest again, where you’ll face various obstacles.
First, capture the Bellsprout to learn how to use the Grass Poké Assist.
Heading north, pick up a Torchic, then clear away the hay bales blocking your way.
Going a little further, you’ll find a huge stump that requires double Torchic’s power.
Heading back south, you’ll find a Combusken that will attack you. Just capture it. It has double Torchic’s energy, which is perfect for destroying the log.
Now head north, then you arrive at the mountain tunnel.
Once inside the tunnel, move calmly north, then east, and after a brief encounter with a Dugtrio, the professor is caught in a rockslide and you are separated for the first time… You have to get the professor out of there quickly before anything happens to him!
Nervously, retrace your steps until you find a Paras.
With this Paras, you can break the little wooden gate blocking your way.
Now you can go around and reach the professor on the other side of the rockslide. But it’s already too late: a member of the Go-Rock Squad takes the opportunity to mug him and take his Super Capture Styler prototype. Mission failed? Not at all, the idea is to escort the professor out the other end of the tunnel.
So leave this little mountain tunnel, and meet a Rhydon… now that’s a big Pokémon.
Yet you can be big and easy to capture, especially using the various Poké Assists you’ve learned.
Keep going until you reach Fall City again (through a previously unknown part of the town: the north), and go to the Ranger base.
Well, congratulations, your first mission is… “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED”!
