Ramanas Park is the great gathering place for Legendaries in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. It replaces the Pal Park of the original games and brings together, room after room, the Legendary Pokémon of Kanto, Johto and Hoenn. This page explains how to get in, how to obtain the slates that open each room and which Legendaries await you depending on your version.

Ramanas Park, at the end of Route 221.

Getting to the park

The park is at the end of Route 221, south of Sandgem Town. Two conditions are required to enter: you must have beaten the Pokémon League and received the National Pokédex from Professor Oak. The park was added by update 1.1.0, so your game must be up to date.

On your first visit, Professor Oak gives you the Poké Radar Counter, a Pokétch app. Two other apps are obtained in the reception building by showing a specific Pokémon to a visitor: the Kitchen Timer for a Snorlax, the Color Changer for a Kecleon.

The slates

Each room opens with a slate. Slates are exchanged at reception for one Strange Souvenir L or three Strange Souvenirs S, which you dig up in the Grand Underground once you have the National Pokédex. Slates unlock in stages: you must have captured certain Legendaries to access the next ones.

Giratina and the Griseous Orb

The Distortion Room is a special case: Giratina appears there in its Origin Forme, at level 100, and cannot be captured. Defeating it lets you collect the Griseous Orb. Given to your own Giratina, captured in Turnback Cave, this item makes it change to its Origin Forme. Prepare a solid team: Giratina knows Aura Sphere, Dragon Claw, Earth Power and Destiny Bond.

Room items

Several rooms hide items that can only be picked up after capturing their occupant: rare berries in the Soul Rooms (including the Soul Dew, after Latias and Latios), Oceanic, Continental and Sky rooms.

Capture tips

  • Save before activating the mechanism in a room: if you knock the Legendary out, just reload.
  • Bring False Swipe and a move that puts to sleep or paralyzes. Level 70 Legendaries are hard to catch.
  • Stock up on Balls on the spot: the second vendor at reception sells Ultra Balls, Timer Balls, Dusk Balls and Repeat Balls, among others.
  • Trade with a player of the other version to get the Legendaries you’re missing: the Johto trio and Ho-Oh on one side, the Kanto trio and Lugia on the other.

The list of all the game’s Legendaries, including those of Sinnoh, is on our Legendary and Mythical Pokémon page.
