Another of Dungeon’s many new features is the Friend Area system. These areas are where allied Pokémon are kept.
Every Pokémon, apart from a few Legendary Pokémon, has an area dedicated to it. You will find the full list below.
Once you have unlocked the necessary area, certain Pokémon can join you in dungeons after you knock them out. Once a Pokémon has joined you, all you have to do is finish the dungeon and it will become your ally.
There are, however, a few conditions to meet if you want a Pokémon to join you in a dungeon.
Your Pokémon’s level. It must be higher than that of the wild Pokémon. But there is no way to know the wild Pokémon’s level, so the best technique is to have the highest level possible.
The Pokémon on your team that knocks out the wild Pokémon must be your leader, at the top of the list. If it is anyone else, it won’t work.
There is also a ribbon that increases the chances of a wild Pokémon joining you.
The number of Pokémon on the team. If you already have 3 Pokémon following you, you cannot have any more.
Friend Areas. If you don’t have the required area, it obviously won’t work.
Your rank. The higher your rank, the better the chance that the Pokémon will join you.
Your Pokémon’s body size. Every Pokémon has a certain body size, which is shown on the first page of its stats. The total body size of the Pokémon on your team must not exceed 6. So you can have, for example, one Pokémon with a body size of ** and two with a body size of *.
Luck. After all, whether or not a Pokémon becomes your ally is just a matter of chance.
There are also some Pokémon that cannot become your allies. These are mainly fully evolved Pokémon (Masquerain, Nidoking…). Pokémon in the middle of an evolutionary line (Nidorino, Kadabra…) can join you, but it will be difficult.
