The credits of Red and Blue Rescue Team mark only half of the game. The story goes on, new dungeons open up, evolution becomes possible and a long hunt for legendary Pokémon begins. This page covers the whole post-game; it reveals the ending of the main story.

What changes after the credits
- The hero returns, much to the delight of their partner.
- Evolution becomes possible at the Luminous Spring, near Whiscash Pond: only one Pokémon can enter at a time, and it must meet the usual level, item or IQ requirements.
- The leader can be changed: any recruited Pokémon can lead the team, and the hero and partner are no longer mandatory.
- New Friend Areas go on sale at Wigglytuff’s Club.

The big quests
The birds and Lugia
Zapdos, Articuno and Moltres, fought during the story, can be recruited afterwards. Bringing them all together opens the way to Lugia, just like in the second Pokémon movie. Silver Trench requires your team to be able to dive.
The beasts and Ho-Oh
Spinda, in search of a mirage Pokémon, sends the hero after Entei, Raikou and then Suicune. At the end of the quest, Ho-Oh waits at the top of Mt. Faraway, 40 floors up. Ho-Oh cannot be recruited the first time it is defeated.
The golems and Mew
You must defeat Regice, Registeel and Regirock in Buried Relic to be able to obtain Mew.
Latios and Latias
Latios asks for help saving his sister Latias. He waits in the Northern Range.
Deoxys, Mewtwo, Celebi and Jirachi
In Meteor Cave, a Deoxys shadow blocks every floor. Mewtwo waits at the bottom of Western Cave, Jirachi at the bottom of Wish Cave. Celebi is one of the hardest Pokémon to obtain. Deoxys has a starting recruitment rate below zero: you need a leader of very high level.
The end of the secondary story
The post-game has its own conclusion. After rescuing Team Meanies’ Medicham in Wish Cave, Gengar asks the hero to escort it to the Ninetales of the legend. The secret of the legend is finally revealed, and a quest in the Dark Cave lets you free Gardevoir from its curse. It can then be recruited in Pokémon Square.
Recruiting at the highest level
Fully evolved Pokémon often have negative recruitment rates. You then need a very high-level leader, and sometimes the Friend Bow. The details are on our Recruiting and Friend Areas page.
