The world

The story takes place in Hoppy Town, a village where the inhabitants raise Magikarp and make them compete in jumping. The village mayor guides the player and teaches the rules. The rivals, all Magikarp breeders, have names that play on the French word “carpe” (carp): Jean-Carpe, Carpouette, Major Carpe, King Karpe, Di Carprio and Michel-Carpe.
