Balls of yarn are the currency of Pokémon Friends: each one gives a plushie at the plushie maker. Here is how they work, based on Serebii.

Pokémon Friends.

Yarn types

Each yarn matches a family of Pokémon, a bit like types: Plain, Fiery, Soggy, Grassy, Sparky, Frosty, Creepy, Hardy, Fantasy, Toothy and Feathery Yarn. Some are unlocked with the Base Pack.

Bonuses

  • A “pretty good” ball of yarn draws from a different set of rarities and gives a 25% chance of a second plushie.
  • Since version 1.1, levels 6 to 8 of a puzzle give yarn scraps: five scraps are worth one random ball of yarn.
  • Beating your untangling record earns a ball of yarn, once a day.

Plushies

Each plushie has a size, from S to XL, and a yarn of origin: Bulbasaur comes from Grassy Yarn, Charmander and Charizard from Fiery Yarn, Squirtle from Soggy Yarn, Pikachu from Sparky Yarn… Regional forms, like Alolan Raichu, arrive with the packs. Since version 1.1.5, a rare plushie you already have can be remade from the catalog.
