The third part of our Explorers of Sky walkthrough: the hunt for Grovyle, the Time Gear thief, then the story’s great turning point. This page contains major story spoilers.
Chapter 11: Grovyle the Thief
The Time Gear in Fogbound Lake has been stolen by Grovyle. The guild sets out to find him. Dusknoir, Wigglytuff and Chatot point out three places where the last Gears might be hidden: the Eastern Forest, Crystal Cave and the Northern Desert, where the hero goes. Everyone comes back empty-handed, except Bidoof, who brings back a crystal as a souvenir.
- Dungeons: Northern Desert, then Quicksand Cave the next day.
- Boss: Mesprit, guardian of the Underground Lake, a Psychic type. Bug, Ghost and Dark attacks are effective.
Hardly is the battle over when Grovyle bursts in and seizes the Gear.
Chapter 12: The Only Solution
Back at the guild, Dusknoir thinks another Gear is hidden in Crystal Cave. He asks Bidoof to lend his crystal. At the touch of the crystal, the hero’s Dimensional Scream awakens: the hero sees Grovyle knock out Azelf and steal the Crystal Lake Gear.
- Dungeon: Crystal Cave, up to Crystal Lake.
- Boss: Grovyle, at Crystal Lake, a Grass type, fast and powerful. Fire, Ice, Flying, Poison and Bug attacks are effective.
Chapter 13: Dusknoir’s Secret
The hero stops Grovyle from stealing the last Gear, then loses consciousness. On waking, Dusknoir reveals that Grovyle is a criminal from the future who wants to paralyze the planet by stealing the Time Gears. Dusknoir himself came from that era to stop him. With Azelf’s help, he sets a trap for Grovyle and captures him.
Two days later, Dusknoir opens a dimensional hole to take Grovyle back to the future. At the moment of farewell, he grabs the hero and the partner and drags them along with him.
Chapter 14: Journey to the Future
The duo wakes up in prison, in a future where time has stopped. Sableye lead them, along with Grovyle, before a firing squad. Grovyle takes advantage of the confusion to escape with them using a Luminous Orb.
- Dungeons: Chasm Cave, Dark Hill, then Sealed Ruin.
- Boss: Spiritomb, a Ghost and Dark type. In generation IV, it has no weakness: strike with your most powerful attacks and heal often.
Grovyle, now free, finally tells his side of the story.
Chapter 15: The Secret of the Planet’s Paralysis
Grovyle explains that the Temporal Tower, home of Dialga, is collapsing. Dialga has become Primal Dialga, an entity that eliminates anyone who wants to change the course of time. Dusknoir is one of its minions. The only way back to the past is through Celebi.
- Dungeon: Dusk Forest, where Celebi lives.
- At the end: Dusknoir, his Sableye and Primal Dialga surround the group near the time corridor. The hero learns his true identity. Celebi manages to send the trio through the time corridor.
