Explorers of Sky is accessible, but its dungeons punish carelessness: a knock-out costs money and items. These tips will help you get off to a good start, from the personality quiz to the first tough bosses.
The quiz and the partner
The personality quiz decides your Pokémon: answer honestly, or start over until you get the one you want. The table of results is on our Starter Pokémon page. Then choose a partner of a different type, ideally a complementary one.
Dungeon rules
- Everything is turn-based: every step, every attack and every item lets the enemies act. Take the time to think.
- Hunger drops with every step. When it is empty, your HP melts away: always carry Apples.
- PP run out: vary your moves and keep Elixirs for long dungeons.
- Traps are invisible until they have been revealed. Some teleport you, others drop you to the next floor.
- Monster houses, rooms full of enemies, are dangerous: flee into a corridor so you only fight one enemy at a time.
The guild routine
Every day at the guild begins with a meeting. Then you pick missions from the boards before heading out to explore. The story moves on when the day ends, but nothing forces you to follow it right away. Use free days to complete missions: they give experience, money and exploration points. See Ranks.
Recruiting and building a team
Recruiting opens up in chapter 5. A defeated Pokémon can then ask to join the team. Some dungeons do not allow recruiting. Recruited Pokémon are managed at the Chimecho Assembly, in the guild. A team has up to four Pokémon. In the story, the hero and the partner must always be part of it.
Making the most of Treasure Town
- Buy Apples, Seeds and Orbs at the Kecleon Shop.
- Create move links at the Electivire Link Shop: linked moves are all used in a single turn.
- Have your boxes appraised by Xatu: they often contain rare items.
The details of each stall are on our Treasure Town and the Guild page.
The first obstacles
The first real wall is the battle at Amp Plains, in chapter 10, against a clan of Electric Pokémon. A Ground-type Pokémon on your team and a few levels in hand change everything there. Our walkthrough for chapters 6 to 10 covers this fight in detail.
