Butterflies are taking over Lumiose City. To celebrate the boxed release of the Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension pack, available since Thursday, October 29, The Pokémon Company is giving away a Spewpa in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Once evolved, this Pokémon can become a Vivillon with colors you can’t find in the city. And every evolution moves a global challenge forward, with one of the rarest patterns in the series as the reward.

How to get the Spewpa

The distribution runs over the Internet, with no code to enter. It has been open since Thursday, October 29 at 7:00 a.m. and runs until Thursday, November 19, 2026 at 2:59 a.m. (Paris time).

  • press the X button to open the main menu;
  • choose “Online Play,” then “Mystery Gift”;
  • select “Get via Internet” and pick up the Spewpa.
  • The gift can only be received once per save file.
  • The console (Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2) must be connected to the Internet, with a profile linked to a Nintendo Account.
  • The Mystery Gift feature only unlocks after about an hour of play.

What makes this Spewpa special is its evolution. From level 12, it becomes a Vivillon that will randomly show one of the 16 patterns missing from the city. The Meadow, Marine and Garden patterns, which you can already find in Lumiose City, are excluded, as is the Poké Ball Pattern. It’s a great way to grow your collection without trading.

The Vivillon Challenge: 660,000 points for a Poké Ball Pattern

Every Spewpa that evolves into Vivillon adds points to a global counter. If Trainers from all countries reach 660,000 points together, everyone will receive a Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon, one of the most sought-after forms of the species. The gifted Spewpa isn’t the only one that counts: those caught in the wild zones or obtained through side missions also contribute as soon as they evolve. Details on the Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon distribution will be announced later. You can follow progress on the challenge’s official website.

A bonus in Pokémon Champions

The event spills over into Pokémon Champions. Until Sunday, January 31, 2027 at 3:59 p.m. (Paris time), transferring a Vivillon you encountered in your Pokémon Legends: Z-A game to Pokémon HOME, then to Pokémon Champions, earns a Vivillon profile icon (Meadow Pattern), 6 Training Tickets and 666 VP. The Vivillon must come from Z-A. For the transfer steps, follow our complete Pokémon HOME guide.

Key takeaways

You have until November 19 to claim your Spewpa and go for a rare pattern. Every evolution counts toward the challenge, including those of wild Spewpa: now is the time to evolve every one you come across. The physical pack that brings the game and Mega Dimension together on a single card is available as of today.
