Pokémon TCG Pocket is about to get a new look. In an announcement published in the app on October 7, the game’s team details the big update planned for the end of the month: community decks to copy other players’ lists, completely reworked solo battles and rental decks that can be used as often as you like. The flip side is that several pieces of content will disappear. So it’s best to get started right now.

Community decks, the most anticipated new feature

This is the feature many players have been asking for since launch. With community decks, you’ll be able to browse the decks that other Trainers have chosen to make public, copy them, then check at a glance whether your collection lets you build them. If cards are missing, the game will tell you how many you need. A great way to try out a list you spotted in a tournament without copying everything by hand.

Rental decks are changing too. Until now limited in the number of times they could be used, they will be built with cards from the latest boosters and can be played as many times as you want. The selection on offer will change regularly as expansions come out.

Tiered battles replaced by a new mode

The tiered battles, which pit your decks against the computer expansion by expansion, will give way to a new type of solo battle whose difficulty increases stage by stage. The details of this mode have not been revealed yet, but one thing is certain: once the update is installed, the current tiered battles will no longer be accessible, and neither will their rewards, whether first-win bonuses or battle missions.

Our advice: if you haven’t yet completed the Advanced and Expert tiers of recent expansions, now is the time to get to it and pocket shop tickets and accessories before they disappear.

What’s going away, and key dates

The announcement lists several removals and schedule changes:

  • End of October, with the update: removal of the themed deck lists and of the rental decks you own, and an end to deck missions.
  • Tuesday, October 27: end of the missions offering the elite deck, moved up by one day from the originally announced date.
  • Until Sunday morning, November 1: last chance to exchange your premium tickets for the Pikachu (001/P-B) promo card in the shop. A new promo card will take over right afterward.
  • When the new series launches: end of the discounted Poké Gold offers introduced for the game’s release. New promotions have been announced.

Since September 30, each item in the shop also displays its own exchange deadline, which avoids unpleasant surprises.

A new series on the horizon

This overhaul accompanies the arrival of a new series of expansions, announced this summer for October 2026. The Mega Deluxe Pack, available for a few days now, closed out Series B. What comes next will introduce the first dual-type cards, starting with Mega Mewtwo X-ex, of Psychic and Fighting types, as well as starter Pokémon in ex versions such as Piplup and Fuecoco. The exact date of this new series and details of the upcoming features will be announced later.

The key takeaways

Community decks and rental decks with unlimited uses should make Pokémon TCG Pocket far more welcoming for trying out new strategies. Until then, finish your tiered battles, collect the rewards from deck missions and remember your Pikachu promo card before November 1. We’ll come back to the update as soon as it’s out.
