What The Pokémon Company says

Appearance and inspirations

Gecqua is a small blue gecko with a head enormous compared to its body. Its half-closed eyes with pink irises, framed by small protrusions that look like eyelashes, give it a slightly haughty look to match its character.

A drop-shaped mark adorns its forehead; its belly and the stripes on its back and tail are a lighter blue. Its short, swollen tail is used to throw its water pearls. You can recognize the crested gecko, with its characteristic “eyelashes,” and the leopard gecko, with its thick tail.

After Sobble, the chameleon of Galar, Gecqua is the second Water starter inspired by a lizard.

Ability: Torrent

When it has one third of its HP or less, its Water-type moves gain 50% power. This is the classic Ability of Water starters. Gecqua's Hidden Ability has not been revealed yet.
