What The Pokémon Company says
Appearance and inspirations
Ms. Wavychu wears a blue dress printed with large pink flowers and foliage, a blue cap decorated with a golden motif and a pink flower, and a blue bow tied on its tail. With pink cheeks, a sweet look and a sideways smile, it seems to be posing for a photo.
Its French name, Pikaflo, evokes the flood of waves (“flots”); its English name, Ms. Wavychu, comes from “wavy” (undulating, making waves). Both point to the sea, and therefore to Pokémon Waves.
A Pikachu duo
Ms. Wavychu is not alone: Mr. Windychu appeared in the same trailer. Both wear tropical outfits, and their names evoke the wind and the waves, the two themes of the games. To learn all about the original Pokémon, see the Pikachu page.
Its name in other languages
| Language | Name | Likely origin |
|---|---|---|
| French | Pikaflo | Pikaflo combines Pikachu and “flots” (waves, billows). |
