What The Pokémon Company says

Appearance and inspirations

Browt is a small, round bird covered in pale yellow down. The lower part of its body, its legs and its talons are almost black, making it look as if it is wearing little trousers. A crest sticks up from the top of its head and its wings are tiny.

Its most striking feature grows on its beak: a wide green bill from which two leaves sweep back over its forehead like thick eyebrows. These are what capture the light. The whole look evokes a chick barely out of its egg and a young sprout; its category, “Bean Chick,” adds the image of a pea seed germinating.

It is only the second Grass starter inspired by a bird, after Rowlet, the owl of Alola. At 3.5 kg, it is also one of the lightest Grass starters.

Ability: Overgrow

When it has one third of its HP or less, its Grass-type moves gain 50% power. This is the classic Ability of Grass starters. Browt's Hidden Ability has not been revealed yet.
