What The Pokémon Company says

Appearance and inspirations

Pombon is a puppy with very fluffy orange fur, a big head and small paws. Its muzzle is light yellow, its nose red, and a tuft of fur with a glowing tip stands up on its head. Its tail curls into a loop over its back.

A warm glow shines on its chest: this is the heat organ described by The Pokémon Company. Its look, its ball of fur and its curled tail unmistakably recall the Pomeranian, which its French name, Caloulou, references.

It is the first Fire starter inspired by a dog. The previous ones drew on a lizard, a hedgehog, a chick, a monkey, a pig, a fox, a cat, a rabbit and a crocodile.

Ability: Blaze

When it has one third of its HP or less, its Fire-type moves gain 50% power. This is the classic Ability of Fire starters. Pombon's Hidden Ability has not been revealed yet.
