Forget the hours spent training a Pokémon in the main games. In Pokémon Champions, everything is set from a menu: stats, nature, ability and moves can be changed in a few seconds, in exchange for Victory Points or Training Tickets.

The training screen: stat points on the left, moves and ability on the right.

The 66 stat points

Each Pokémon has 66 stat points to distribute among its six stats, with a maximum of 32 points per stat. This system replaces the effort values (EVs) of the main games, and is far more readable: 32 points is the maximum for a stat, and 2 points are left for a third one.
  • 66stat points per Pokémon
  • 32points maximum in one stat
  • 2VP per stat point
  • Lv. 50level of the displayed stats

The most common spreads

Officially distributed Pokémon give a good idea of effective spreads:

Stat alignment (the nature)

Stat alignment is the equivalent of the main games’ nature: it raises one stat by 10% and lowers another by the same amount. The arrows next to the stats show which ones are affected. Changing alignment costs 200 VP according to Serebii.

Ability and moves

You can switch abilities among those the species can have, for 400 VP. Moves are changed one by one for 100 VP each, among all those the Pokémon can learn in Champions.

Some moves from the main games are not available, and others have been rebalanced: see our guide to modified moves.

A method for training without waste

  1. Define the Pokémon’s role: fast attacker, bulky attacker, support. The role dictates the spread.
  2. Choose the stat alignment first: it determines whether your Pokémon outspeeds its opponents.
  3. Distribute the points, taking inspiration from the official spreads above.
  4. Finish with moves and ability, once the team is settled.
  5. Use your Training Tickets on the Pokémon that need the most changes.
