Every Pokémon in UNITE belongs to one of five roles. They determine how it plays, where it goes on the map and what the team expects from it. A good team combines several: it is the basis of every victory.

Attacker

Attackers deal heavy damage, almost always from range, but take hits poorly. They stay behind the front line, finish off weakened opponents and secure objectives. Their danger: being targeted by a Speedster.

Examples: Pikachu, Venusaur, Chandelure, Sylveon, Miraidon.

All-Rounder

All-Rounders combine damage and endurance. Fighting up close most of the time, they are at the heart of the action and can play solo in a lane. It is the most represented role in the game.

Examples: Charizard, Lucario, Garchomp, Scizor, Tinkaton.

Speedster

Speedsters are highly mobile and excel at picking off isolated targets, especially Attackers. They quickly gain experience in the central area and switch lanes to catch opponents off guard. Harder to master, they are unforgiving of mistakes.

Examples: Gengar, Zeraora, Absol, Meowscarada, and soon Jolteon.

Defender

Defenders soak up hits, disrupt opponents and protect their allies. They start fights, block opposing goals and absorb damage meant for Attackers.

Examples: Snorlax, Blastoise, Slowbro, Umbreon, Ho-Oh.

Supporter

Supporters heal, protect, speed up or slow down. Their effectiveness is measured by how well their team survives rather than by their KOs. A good Supporter follows their team’s Attacker and reacts to enemy engagements.

Examples: Eldegoss, Clefable, Blissey, Comfey, Latias.
