The fighters appear in their in-game models, more detailed and more muscular than in the main series. The fighter images come from the official artwork of the DX version and the Wii U version, whose models were carried over to Switch.

The new fighters in the DX version
Four fighters come from Japanese arcades, Decidueye is brand new, and Aegislash and Blastoise arrived in 2018 with the Battle Pass. Scizor is one of the fighters that Mega Evolve during Synergy Burst.
A few classic fighters
All sixteen fighters from the Wii U version are present, from Pikachu to Shadow Mewtwo, the Pokémon at the heart of the Ferrum League story.
The new Support Pokémon
The sets added by the DX version and the Battle Pass bring together the Alola starters and legendary Pokémon.
The stages
Twenty-one stages host the battles, from Ferrum League arenas to the region’s natural settings. The Black Coliseum is the setting for the clashes against Shadow Mewtwo.
