The Ferrum League is the main mode of Pokkén Tournament DX: the solo path that takes you up through the five leagues of the Ferrum region, from the Green League to the Iron League, and tells the story of Shadow Mewtwo. Here is how it works, league by league, with the rewards and our tips.

How a league works
1. League matches
You face the league’s trainers in series of five battles. Every battle, won or lost, moves your ranking among the participants; you don’t need to meet everyone. The goal is to reach the top 8.
2. The tournament
Once you are in the top 8, you enter the tournament: three single-elimination battles up to the title. Victory earns Poké Gold, and the amount increases from one league to the next.
3. The promotion match
The tournament winner faces the league master to move up a rank. These opponents are the strongest in their league. Winning takes you to the next league and earns new rewards. The masters of the first three leagues are Travis and his Garchomp (Green League), Keith and his Suicune (Blue League) and Elinn and her Braixen (Red League); Glenn holds the Chroma League.
The story of Shadow Mewtwo
Progress through the leagues comes with a storyline. A mysterious trainer and her Shadow Mewtwo appear after your victories and challenge you at the Black Coliseum; their dark synergy stone absorbs the synergy around them. The story then leads you to the Regi Ruins, the Blue Dome and the Dragon’s Nest, before a final battle against Shadow Mewtwo. Our article from the time, The Ferrum League story mode, tells the whole story and gives the conditions of each battle, including the last one: Shadow Mewtwo has 3,000 HP there.
Preparing for the Ferrum League
- Choose three Support sets: in the Ferrum League, only three sets can be used, to be set in advance in My Town. See Support Pokémon.
- Set your Cheer Skill in My Town: in the Ferrum League, it can’t be chosen before each battle. See My Town and customization.
- Stick with one fighter: it gains skill levels over the course of the battles, which you can distribute among attack, defense, synergy and strategy.
- Complete the mission cards of each league at the same time: they earn titles, outfits and Poké Gold. See our article The mission cards.
What the Ferrum League earns you
- Poké Gold, the currency used to buy outfits for your avatar;
- titles and customization items;
- outfits for Nia, your advisor;
- experience for your fighters, which progress in skill level.
