Pokkén Tournament DX is not a simple port of the 2016 Wii U version. It adds fighters, a mode and online features, and changes several progression rules. Here is what sets the two versions apart.

The new fighters
Darkrai, Scizor, Croagunk and Empoleon were already playable in Japanese arcades in 2016, but were never added to the Wii U version. Decidueye is brand new, and Aegislash and Blastoise arrived with the Battle Pass. See New Fighters.
The new stage
The DX version adds two stages, one from the arcade and one brand new. Among them is Thalia Beach, a tourist island with sunny beaches where Ferrum battles are also held. The other stages are described in our original article Battle Stages.
Should you move from Wii U to Switch?
Yes, without hesitation: the DX version contains all of the Wii U version’s content, and builds on it. The only regrets are the lack of save data transfer and the fact that the Battle Pass is paid. The Wii U version can now only be found second-hand; our guide to Pokkén Tournament on Wii U presents it.
